Abstract

Sweden's Welfare State is a direct result of its Family Policy, which promotes the equal sharing between mothers and fathers of the responsibility and chores in the upbringing of a child. This article looks into how the "Family Tools", in terms of equality, affect the job situation: if it allows both men and women to assume the same family and professional responsibilities because nowadays women have highly committed themselves to the work market whereas men are not taking up their family duties. Sweden ,as a pioneer country, believes that the male implication in the child upbringing is essential in the pursuit for men-women equality and therefore supports a high quality well developed Family Policy as the main possible way to achieve this.
