Abstract

Spain has been immersed in an economic crisis since 2007, which has led to an intense debate about the possible strategies to overcome the situation. In this paper we propose to approach the analysis of the Argentinean crisis in 2001 and subsequent years, to obtain elements that can be included in the debate and be used as a point of reference for the analysis of different scenarios in the event of a Spanish abandonment of the euro. First, the importance of studying the Argentinean case and the economic elements shared with Spain will be discussed. Finally, the policies carried out in the South American country since the end of the crisis until the present date will be reviewed, allowing us to draw some lessons that can be considered in the case of Spain.
