The article deals with the state of the art of economic psychology, also known as behavioural economics. After a brief review of the foundations of economic decision theory and the two main research programs, it discusses the consolidated results of the discipline (especially the effectiveness of heuristics), the aspects that need to be improved (such as the definition of the contexts most favourable to the various heuristics) and the remaining challenges, especially the incorporation of uncertainty.
