The present document tackles the so-called care crisis, concept that captures+G2 the process of reorganising the way of fulfilling people’s need for care, which can be nowadays observed in Spain. Firstly, a theoretical debate on the concepts and methodological categories that emerge from a feminist economics perspective and that enable to deal with such a crisis is undertaken. Secondly, the care crisis is studied. The main objective of the text is not to make a comprehensive analysis of the subject, but to propose an innovative viewpoint from which its debate could be established. Aspects that tend to remain invisible are highlighted and the structural interrelationships of factors that are usually seen in terms of isolated temporary imbalances are remarked. It is argued that the care crisis entails a great opportunity to make a structural critique of the socioeconomic system and to incorporate gender as a central category of economic discourse. It is also an opportunity to find theoretical and political convergences between feminist economics and other schools of critical economics.
