Abstract

During the 90s, Cuban Special Period developed into a social transition process of reference for the environmental movements all around the world, especially in the agri-food field in which the country experienced a deep agroecological revolution. This article reviews this understanding of Cuban social viability, stressing the obstacles the international scientific bibliography has tended to ignore. Later on, from a more balanced perspective of the good and bad points in Cuban case, some generic reflections are made in order to think about the difficulties of socio-ecological transition.
